James Cameron was living in his car when he wrote Terminator.
Terminator is an interesting sci-fi series. There’s a weird balance of great and awful, much like Star Wars. Still, though the franchise is trying to hit its stride again today, it’s an insanely popular one. But it wasn’t always that way. It was initially going to be a low budget action movie, but James Cameron (now a cinema rock star)

turned the whole thing around.
In case you’ve never seen the first movie, it focuses on Sarah Connor, a woman who is attacked by a robot from the future who has the goal of killing her to prevent her unborn son from defeating the machines in the future.
When Cameron made the script, he barely had enough money to get by, and was living in his car for a while. Eventually, he sold his script to Gale Ann Hurd for one dollar, but earned the right to direct the film himself. His career took off from there.
