Chimeraism
is a condition that occurs when two fertilized eggs fuse together to
create one organism with two different sets of DNA. Different genes from
each set of DNA may be expressed in different areas, creating a further
condition called mosaicism. There is no definite conclusion as to
whether this peacock is a chimera or whether it is exhibiting a form of
genetic co-dominance; however, either way it’s an astonishing image!
