The BC548 provides
automatic cutoff to solar
charger by regulating the adjustment on the LM317
adjustable voltage
regulator.

The 0.5 ohm, 5W resistor is
important to dissipate
extra power. The 1000uF
and 0.22uF capacitors in
the left side of the circuit
ensure improved input transient response. The
0.22uF cap along with the
100 ohm resistor.
